Flat Roof Sealing.
A flat roof or deck is composed of several elements: the support, the roof slope, the vapor barrier, the insulation, the seal, the apertures and protection or roof covering.
Why sealing a flat roof is so important?
Rain water must not get inside the house, so a sealing coat must be applied to ensure the roof is watertight.
Without this sealing:
- water may enter the house
- the roof support may be damaged by water
- mold, damp walls or wet patches may appear inside the home
- mushrooms, stale indoor air, stains on the walls and ceilings or peeling wallpaper may appear
Types of sealing
There are several types:
- asphalt
- bitumen products
- roofing membrane: glued on top of each other, consisting of several reinforced bitumen sheets
