How much do tree services cost ?

Tree services include both the trimming and removal of trees. Depending on the location of the tree in relation to your house, you will need to choose the best method to take care of the tree. Keep in mind that trimming and removing trees is serious business and should only be done by the skilled professional. Falling limbs and use of heavy machinery can cause injury and possibly death which is why it is always better to obtain an estimate as opposed to attempting the work yourself.

The cost of tree services will depend on a number of factors, but the main ones are (1) the type of tree and (2) the height of the tree. Obstacles such as your residence or power lines can add to the cost of the trim or removal, but here are some estimated prices for tree services without any obstacles.

Up To 30 Feet:

The cost to trim a tree that is up to 30 foot tall will cost you approximately $150 to $600 depending on the condition (e.g., rotten limbs) of the tree. Removal of a tree up to 30 foot will cost you approximately $450 to $1,000.

30 to 60 Feet:

Trimming of a tree that is within this range will run you approximately $300 to $900. Again, this price will depend on the condition of the tree and is estimated with no obstacles (e.g., power lines). Complete removal of the tree will be between $600 and $1,500.

60 Feet or More:

Dealing with a 60 foot tree can be difficult and that is why it will range anywhere from $600 to $1,400 for trimming services. Complete removal will also be a little higher than others and will run you in the $900 to $1,800 price range.

Additional Price Consideration:

Yes, your trees could be worth money. If you have a number of trees that are larger in size, chances are they are in demand. Trees such as pine and oak will be removed by tree services at discounted costs as they will be able to sell the removed timber for a profit.

If tree services are needed at or near power lines, then plan on paying up to 30% more. This is because trimming branches from these tress is not as simple as using a chainsaw and letting the branch fall to the ground. Each limb must be tied up prior to cutting so that it can be lowered to the ground or moved around live power lines.

Often times people obtain a quote for tree removal and do not realize that they will still be left with a large stump on their property. When you obtain an estimate for tree removal, make sure that it includes stump removal as well. Stump removal can run anywhere from $100 to $500 depending on the size of the stump (note that the prices quoted herein do NOT include the price of stump removal).
